Soloing/Questing Tenacity Pet Build?

Unread postby Fatheroflies »
What talent build do you guys suggest for a talent build for a soloing/questing type situations? I can't tell which talents are required. My specs are MM and Survival for now, I just don't want to drop one of those in favor of BM. Which leads me to another question, which spec is best for this type of stuff? What would be a good talent build for my hunter?
Also, what is the preferred spec for taming rares? I'm talking more of the ones in the Molten Front.

This is what I use for my Tenacity Build in Marks / Survival:
- Charge: 1 The faster your pet hits the mob, the better.
- Great Stamina: 3 +12% to your pet's total health, and needed for Blood of the Rhino
- Blood of the Rhino: 2 +40% to all healing effects on your pet, and made even better when used with Glyph of Mending.
- Thunderstomp: 1 AoE damage with extra aggro generation, enough said there.
- Guard Dog: 2 20% additional threat from Growl. That helps a lot when you're hitting the mob like a truck.
- Culling of the Herd: 3 3% increased damage for you and your pet whenever it lands a crit with it's basic attack. This one is optional in my opinion, and you could put the points somewhere else if it suits you.
- Grace of the Mantis: 2 Reduces the chance your pet is hit by crits by 6%. So-so talent.
- Last Stand: 1 Very good talent for when your pet is about to take increased damage.
- Shiverback: 2 Every time your pet uses Growl, they heal 2% health of their total health.
Also, you'll want to have Glyph of Mending and, if you can fit it in without giving up a better major glyph, Glyph of Misdirection to chain aggro to your pet. Obviously, this build is centered around healing your pet to the fullest and keeping them up easier. One final note on this - you should only have to use a tenacity pet on "group" fights more or less as you're leveling. On run of the mill mobs that you solo, you're better off using Ferocity or Cunning depending on spec you're in because killing them faster = leveling faster.
As far as taming Molten Front rares go, that varies on the rare you're looking to get. You'll have to do your own homework on specific mobs you're interested in to see taming strategies and tricks.

When we're talking about tenacity solo'ing, there isn't really one "best" build, but rather several variations on a common theme; this is what I prefer for non-BM* http://www.wowhead.com/petcalc#0RzGzrMz0k0o, but I tend to micromanage my aggro, so the next person might prefer intervene and roar of sacrifice, etc etc.
Try it on and see if it fits.
*When I'm speccing BM tenacity, the main difference is that I skip taunt as intimidation serves the same basic function (and I don't need the extra CD for that).
